The driver will
- Comply with driving and rest time regulations.
- Use driver’s cards and register data in accordance with current rules.
- Register deviations.
- Transport goods in accordance with current regulations, i.e., consider restrictions on roads and bridges.
- Without justified delay, notify your immediate superior of changes or obstacles related to any violations or deviations.
- Ensure that vehicles and trailers are always in proper condition, appropriate tire according to conditions, and have the required number of chains available.
- Place loads so that the driver has ample visibility and does not impede being able to maneuver safely.
- Ensure that mandatory lights and license plates are not covered.
- Limit idling and adjust driving to minimize environmental impact.
- Comply with mandatory abstinence rules.
- Be a role model in traffic, as well as when the vehicle is not moving.
- Specify hours in line with the setup in Xago.
The driver will not
- Have other chores that may divert his attention while driving or performing work operations.
- Expose others to undue noise or reckless behavior when staying at day-resting areas.
Transport of dangerous goods
ADR certificate of competence is required when transporting dangerous goods, and the vehicle must be marked, and ADR approved. Exceptions are the transport of dangerous goods covered by exemption rules.
Personal protective equipment
- Helmets with chin straps, visibility clothing and safety shoes must always be worn when loading, unloading and otherwise when required.
- Upon arrival at the loading and unloading point, the driver must familiarize himself with the current requirements regarding protective equipment and ensure compliance with these.
Cargo securing and cargo securing equipment.
- When securing cargo, the safeguard must withstand at least the following forces:
- In the direction of travel: 1.0 times the weight of the goods. Physical closure at the forefront should be pursued.
- Laterally and against the direction of travel: 0.5 times the weight of the goods
- Other goods, including load securing equipment, pads, ladders, etc., must be secured so that they do not pose a risk to health, property, or the environment.
- The weight of the load must be as evenly distributed as possible over wheels on the same axle, and appropriately distributed between the axles.
- Cargo must always be properly secured in accordance with applicable regulations.
- The safeguard should also prevent the load from tilting or tipping over.
- Cargo securing equipment must always be in order and in accordance with current regulations.
- The driver is required to carry out a visual inspection of the cargo securing equipment before use.
- Equipment that has defects or deficiencies is discarded or taken out for maintenance.
- The driver must have knowledge regarding the weight that bind-fasteners on cars and trailers are designed for, and the capacity of chains, tension bands and the like.
- In the event of uncertainty regarding the capacity of hook-points on the goods themselves, the transport must not be carried out until this has been adequately evaluated and found to be acceptable.
Transport of drivable machinery
- Anyone who drives machines are obligated to have documented equipment-specific training on the machine in question, and in certain cases there are also requirements for certified training.
- If the transport assignment involves the transport of machines to be driven up onto trailers, special requirements apply.
- Efforts should be made to ensure that it is the owner/user of the equipment that drives the machine up and down the trailer.
