Before working in a workshop, you will:
- Familiarize yourself with workshop routines.
- Familiarize yourself with requirements for the use of protective / safety equipment.
Note routines specifically for:
- Solo work
- Work at height
- Chemicals
- Heated work
- Use of compressed air and gas
- Charging batteries
- Extraction, which are to be mounted on machines with an internal combustion engine.
All work in the workshop and shifting of machines must be clarified with the workshop manager/supervisor.

Machinery and equipment in workshop
- Machines and equipment in the workshop can be used via agreement, provided you have the necessary expertise and are familiar with routines for safe usage.
- It is the user’s responsibility to ensure that the competency requirement is met.
- There are requirements for documented training and certificates of competence/certificates for certain types of equipment.
- When working at heights exceeding 2 meters, one should safeguard against falling.
- The workshop manager is responsible for ensuring that the workshop’s machines and equipment are certified, calibrated and in correct condition.
- Equipment that is not to be used is clearly marked to avoid accidental use. All users of the workshop are responsible for contributing to this.
FLAWS, DEFECTS AND RISKS
If you discover flaws, defects or identify risk factors, you must immediately notify the workshop manager/foreman.
Cleanliness
- The workshop should be kept tidy.
- All tools should be placed in their specific place after use.
- Rules for handling chemicals, hazardous waste and waste material disposal must be complied with.
- New chemicals must not be appropriated without informing the workshop manager/foreman.
- A minimum of four annual internal inspections are carried out, preferably in connection with safety delegate inspections prior to AMU.
After ordinary working hours, or if you are the last to leave the workshop, you must:
- Make sure compressors, pressure washers and other electrical machines are switched off.
- check that all valves on gas cylinders are closed.
- check that all doors are locked.

- Use of work equipment without the necessary skills.
