A dismantling lift is an irreversible takeover when the full weight of the load has been transferred to the crane and a risk assessment must always be carried out and SJA prepared prior to such operations.
The following factors must be assessed and documented in SJA:
- The center of gravity and weight of the load. Be aware of conditions that may contribute to an increased weight of the load such as water, snow, and ice etc.
- Who calculated the weight and, if applicable, the windbreak.
- Competence and experience of the lifting manager. There are requirements for previous experience and expertise in this type of lifting.
- The lifting capacity of the crane must be reduced by a minimum of 20%
- Whether or not the lift is unsymmetrical, in part due to the lifting equipment used.
